Art Exhibition by Young Artists' Society (YAS)


On 22nd April 2007, an exhibition of painting was organized by Young Artists' Society in collaboration with Student Welfare Council (SWC) at the auditorium hall of Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel.

Young Arisits' Society (YAS) is a group of ISc Students who are keen in fine arts and have artistic talents. YAS aims to motivate science students in the field of fine arts and provides the students with a platform to present their talents.

The exhibition named "Ordinary" comprised the paintings and sketches from six young artists, from I.Sc 1st and 2nd year. The artists, Sworup Nhasiju, Prakash Aryal, Shreejan Shrestha, Shradila Shrestha, Keshab Shrestha and Ram Kumar Bista inhibited 40 paintings which were painted with the medium of Acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, ink and pencils.

The paintings subjected on present political disorders, nature, portraits, birds, meditation and landscape. Drawn on the canvases, hand made papers, Nepali lokta paper and normal papers, the paintings were viewed by thousands of students and guests.

"This exhibition has proved that even science students are able to create outstanding paintings and the students can have multiple talents at the same hands" stated Prof. Dr. Bhadraman Tuladhar, the registrar, of KU and Dean, School of Arts.

On the same occasion, Mr. Manoj Bhattarai, event coordinator of YAS announced that Kathmandu University also purchased a painting painted by Sworup Nhasiju, the president of YAS.

The advisor of YAS, Mr. Kashi Raj Pandey, Mr. Sijan Baral (Department of Language and Mass communication) and the last but not the least, the guests motivated the students for their outstanding paintings. 25% of the total money collected from the sales of the paintings will be donated to "Sahara – Senior citizen Service Centre", located at Dhulikhel.
